The Blacktop Cadence formed in Gainesville in the late 1990s. Chris Wollard and George Rebelo of Hot Water Music played in this band, as well as Jack Bailey and Heather Parker, both of whom, were in a band called Baroque.
In 1997, the band released one album, Chemistry For Changing Times on the defunct Keystone-Ember record label. It was reissued in 2003 by No Idea Records. They contributed a track to Deep Elm's The Emo Diaries series.
The band broke up sometime in 1998. Chris and George continued playing with Hot Water Music while Jack Bailey resurfaced a few years later in Army of Ponch.
